news

we never update this thing, and it certainly isn't because we have nothing to say or share, but i guess we never think anyone cares to keep up...but that sounds awful commiserative and that couldn't contradict how we actually feel more! we have a tour coming up and a new record that's on the way! we couldn't be more excited if we tried.

the new record should be about 12 songs, with all kinds of crazy surprises and contributions from friends. we start recording down in tuscaloosa on november 28th and should wrap up december 7th in birmingham. matt whitson is engineering it all. i can't wait, i hope all our hard work and thought pays off. it should be released on house of love records in late january.

also, we're doing a tour with our dear friends SPELLS december 27th-january 4th. the dates are all up on myspace, and as i'm sure you can see there are a lot of holes. if anyone can help with those, don't hesitate to get in touch! we'll play anywhere in the semi-near proximity of those unconfirmed dates SO if you want us to play your basement, bedroom, backyard or local all-ages venue, let us know.

thanks for reading. thanks for caring. hope to see you all in the near future.

keep bleedin', keep keep bleedin' bleedin'

update: we bought a van! its an 87' dodge ram van. we bought it from a very nice man in florence, alabama named michael. we'll post some photos soon! we leave for tour in exactly 4 days and we couldn't be more psyched about it. money/gas/etc. will add some stress but i don't think it's anything we can't handle.

we're screening shirts and patches today! we'll try and post some pictures of that stuff as well.

as for all of our out of town friends expecting demos in the mail, we're sending them today! we had a few issues at the post office. don't ask.

we're excited. more later.

obscurity in moderation

the show with blacklisted went really well. thanks to everyone for coming out. we leave for tour in 2 and a half weeks. i love alabama, but it's been 6 months since i've been away from it for longer than a week and i'm itching for tour. it'll be an interesting first tour, but i can't wait.

show today

so our demos are finished and we're technically "releasing" them tonight at the blacklisted show. the recordings are rough, but that's how a demo should be, or so i hear. the lyrics are included in the package. everyone should try and swing by cave9 tonight and get one.

we're playing with blacklisted, which i am really psyched about for several reasons; playing hardcore shows always sounds like a good idea whenever a band i'm in gets asked to. blacklisted is a good band, in my opinion, doing seemingly inventive things for a scene that is steadily obtuse and/or disappointing normally. it's cool. i like it when a band takes popularity and does something worthwhile, and it seems like that's what they're doing.

also playing is trample (whom i know nothing about), legion (who are awesome), and someone else from kansas? maybe? regardless, you should come. it'll help cave9, make mike parsons happy, and you might get a p.s. eliot demo WHICH features the one and only mary stephens on recorder. just saying.

forget ahead

because band websites are obsolete, a blog is seemingly the only way to actually talk about what's going on in the brains and lives of a band. our lyrics aren't always overtly political, and we think it's important to have an outlet to talk about those sorts of things. think of it as discretionary ventilation? yeah, that sounds about right.

so we have a demo that we made in my basement last weekend. its got 5 songs, out of about 8 that we have written. some people might think that it's a little naive of us to tour on 8 songs and a shitty van and little experience/money/etc. but i consider it kind of necessary. we have the time and we have this sort of super-zealous, enthusiastic outlook on doing a lot with what we have right now, so why not?

tour starts on may 14th, the dates are:
may 14th-baton rouge
may 15th- hang out in austin
may 16th- hang out in austin
may 17th- ft worth
may 19th- el paso
may 20th- santa fe
may 23rd- riverside, ca
may 24th- los angeles
may 27th- oklahoma city
may 28th- atlanta
may 29th- nashville

we'll all be posting everyday, keep a look out.
